Dry Sand Classification: Key for High Quality Dry Mix Mortar
Dry sand, as an aggregate for dry-mixed mortar, is generally not used directly in a dry mix mortar plant. It can be directly used for ordinary mortar in a ready mix mortar plant when the gradation of raw sand is relatively reasonable, but the gradation of most raw sand fails to meet the reasonable standard required by the plant.
The so-called gradation refers to filling the gaps between coarse sand with fine sand and the gaps between fine sand with finer sand. Theoretically, the finer the classification of sand in a dry mix mortar plant, the denser the prepared mortar and the relatively higher its strength. Using cement to fill the final gaps can not only meet the mortar strength requirements of the ready mix mortar plant but also reduce the cement dosage, thereby saving the raw material cost of mortar in the plant.

The classification screens in the dry mix mortar plant can be selected from probability screens, linear screens, circular vibrating screens, etc. Meanwhile, the screening equipment shall be equipped with an online screen cleaning function, and the screen mesh of the classification screen shall be easily replaceable to ensure the stable operation of the screening equipment.
An online sampling device shall be installed after the screening equipments of the ready mix mortar plant to monitor the classified sand. If a large amount of lower-grade sand is found in the upper-grade sand, the vibrating screen mesh of the current vibrating screen may be severely blocked; if upper-grade sand is found in the lower-grade sand, the current screen mesh of the vibrating screen may be damaged or the sealing method may fail.

A barrier net shall also be installed at the sampling port of the dry mix mortar plant. This net acts as a protective barrier, effectively preventing small components, broken screen fragments, or other debris from the classification system from falling into the sand storage bin and contaminating the processed sand.
Additionally, the classification system must be equipped with a high-efficiency dust removal device. The dust collected by this device should be carefully disposed of in strict accordance with the mortar formula requirements, ensuring both the environmental protection performance of the screening equipment and the overall operational compliance of the entire ready mix mortar plant.
