How to Select Dust Removal Equipment for Sand & Aggregate Industry

2026-03-14

Discussion on Equipment Selection for Different Dust Sources

The general principles for selecting industrial dust extractors are as follows:

① Selection based on gas processing volume

For large gas volumes, a single large-capacity dust collector is more economical than multiple small units connected in parallel. A certain capacity margin should be reserved to prevent the actual air volume from exceeding the design value.

② Selection based on particle size distribution and dust density

Cyclone dust collectors are suitable for dust-laden gas with particle sizes larger than 10 μm. For particles mostly below 1 μm, baghouse filters or electrostatic precipitators are recommended.

③ Selection based on inlet dust concentration

To ensure high dust removal efficiency and meet the required outlet emission concentration, the inlet dust concentration limits of different dust collectors must be considered.

④ Consideration of dust adhesion

Dust with high adhesion tends to adhere to internal components, causing blockage and dust accumulation.

⑤ Consideration of dust resistivity

For electrostatic precipitators, the dust resistivity must fall within the applicable range of the equipment.

⑥ Consideration of dust-laden gas temperature

Dry dust removal equipment must operate above the dew point of the gas, while wet dust collectors are preferably used at lower temperatures.

Comprehensive Consideration for Dust Removal Equipment Selection

For equipment selection in industrial and mining enterprises, the industrial dust collector machine shall be selected based on comprehensive factors including the dust characteristics of different dust sources, dust control requirements, and the geographical and environmental conditions where the enterprise is located. In cold and arid regions, dry-type industrial dust extractors should be preferred to reduce water freezing or minimize water waste, as this type of industrial dust collector machine does not rely on a large amount of water. In regions with abundant water resources or hot and humid climates, wet-type industrial dust extractor is more suitable to achieve satisfactory dust removal efficiency with relatively low capital investment.

For equipment selection of a specific industrial and mining enterprise, many other factors shall be taken into account for the industrial dust collector machine, such as the application of enclosed dust collection hoods and the layout of ventilation and ash conveying pipelines, which are closely related to the operation effect of the industrial dust extractor.
